In a profound speech to his student Kumayl Ibn Ziyād, Imam ʿAli Ibn Abī Ṭālib made this insightful observation about the state of the early Muslim community.

I discuss a specific scholars-led cultural coup by ḥadīths against the Qur’an. The critical analysis focuses on the ḥadīths that permit, and even command, religious compulsion and the killing of apostates and Muslims who abandon prayer.

Putting aside fact-checking and counterarguing Ibn Taymiyyah and like-minded scholars, I have a serious experiential problem with the writings of such extremist minds. As I explained in a reply to a comment on my YouTube channel:
