In this interview on Paul Williams’ Blogging Theology, I discuss how Jesus was declared divine shortly after his ascension, as reflected in the Gospels and the Pauline epistles. I contrast this with the fact that Muhammad ﷺ was never deified, examining the distinct circumstances of both prophets. Specifically, I identify five factors that facilitated the deification of Jesus but made a similar development impossible in the case of Muḥammad ﷺ.
