In my latest appearance on Paul Williams’ brilliant channel, “Blogging Theology,” I discuss the manufactured justifications for the Iraq War, the devastating impact of the occupation on Iraqi society and the country, and the enduring consequences of this illegal and criminal act of aggression. A comprehensive historical analysis is beyond the scope of this podcast, so I present a high-level review, incorporating my own experience to emphasise the lessons that must be learned. Iraq stands as yet another example of the West’s destructive and violent exercise of power, and a stark reminder of Western historical amnesia.
