Some scholars and lay Muslims criticise other Muslims for celebrating the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), while others even consider it prohibited. This rejection of one aspect of celebrating and rejoicing in the Prophet (PBUH) reflects an ignorance of some of Islam’s fundamentals and legal principles. This misguided objection also stems from self-ignorance, as critics celebrate all kinds of personal, family, and public events yet they deny Muslims the right to celebrate the Prophet (PBUH) who guided them and humanity to Islam.
